2020 | Concert Hall | Płock

location: ul. Stary Rynek, Płock | floor area: 15,573 m²

2nd place in SARP’s architectural competition to Design the Concert Hall Building in Płock

The underlying urban planning idea was to create public space: a city square as a functional hybrid to engage in complementary activities that do not conflict with one another. The blended operation of the city market, amphitheater and interconnected urban spaces form a multi-functional urban organism serving the local community. We designed this building to be the same size as neighboring developments while embracing the principle of creating a flexible and comprehensible functional layout in the design process. The shape of pipe organs stood behind the inspiration for the distinct serrated outline of the building’s façade. We wanted the new building to be experienced, like music, through people’s unintentional responses. By using an intuitive universal language graspable by persons of different nationalities, we endeavored to create a form without assigning any needless meaning to it. Music Square in the form of an amphitheater adjoining the Concert Hall building is a space where people can enjoy music together.
